Pilates

Pilates is an exercise program designed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s. It is designed to strengthen, elongate and restore the body to its natural balance by creating a stable core.
This stable core is created by activating the deep abdominal and back muscles in co-ordination with your breathing. A stable core is essential for good posture and control of your body.
Pilates is useful in helping people with back, neck, hip or shoulder pain. It is especially useful for pre and post natal women and anyone who has bad posture that can result in pain and discomfort.
Pilates is also a good complement for athletes as it aids the health of joints through improved mobility and stability which is thought essential to improved performance and injury prevention.
The clinic offers tailored 1:1 clinical pilates in 1 hour sessions with a chartered physiotherapist. These sessions are practical in nature and you will also be taught your own program to progress at home between sessions with the practitioner.
