Do I need to see my GP before I can have private physiotherapy?
No, a doctor referral is not necessary before seeing a physio. However, if you have private medical insurance some companies do require a doctor’s referral so please check with your insurance company before making an appointment.
How quickly will I be seen for my first treatment?
We will endeavor to offer you an appointment on the same day wherever possible but always within 24 hours. We have appointment availability throughout the day aswell as evenings and early mornings to accommodate patients that can only come outside of working hours.
Are your Physiotherapists registered with the HPC (Health professions council)?
Yes, all of our Physiotherapists are registered with the Health Professions Council and are also members of The CSP and Physiofirst.
What shall I wear?
Wear something comfortable and appropriate for the area of your injury to be assessed thoroughly e.g. shorts for a knee injury. Your modesty will be respected at all times.
How long does each treatment last?
Initial appointments last upto 45 minutes and all subsequent appointments are upto 30 minutes.
Can I use my private medical insurance?
Yes, As Chartered Physiotherapists and Members of the Health Professions Council we are recognised by all major and known Health Insurance Companies. All policies do vary so please contact your insurer before booking your appointment.
How many treatments will I need?
At your initial appointment, your physio will assess your problem and estimate how many sessions you are likely to require. Our average number of treatments per patient over the last 600 patients was 3.7. You can be assured that it is our priority to avoid lengthy, ineffective and costly courses of treatment. We aim to get you better as quickly and effectively as possible.
Is physiotherapy appropriate for back and neck problems or is it only useful for muscle injuries?
Chartered Physiotherapists are qualified to treat all spinal problems and in fact over 45% of our normal caseload is spinal work.
Can physiotherapists manipulate?
Yes, Chartered Physiotherapists with the appropriate post-graduate training are qualified to manipulate.
What happens if I cannot attend my appointment?
Please call us as soon as you know that you aren’t going to be able to make it. We do require 24 hour notice if you wish to cancel or reschedule your appointment, as without adequate notice that appointment slot cannot be utilised for other patients. Where 24 hours notice is not given our standard treatment fee applies.
